So … Who is GCCYP?

GCCYP (Garfield County Christian Youth Program) is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization in Garfield County. It all began in 2012 when Ian and Candice Quarles saw a need for a community youth program. Very few of the Churches had active youth programs/groups because of their small sizes. GCCYP is an inter-denominational youth program so that any and all youth are welcome to attend.
Our Mission Statement: To assist the various ministries in Garfield County in fulfilling the great commission, by preaching Christ, and mentoring youth through relational and lifestyle evangelism.
Currently GCCYP has the following ministries:
  • Building 836 -Youth Group For youth in grades 6 to 12. Meetings are Sundays 6 pm to 8 pm at the youth building (836 Main St). There are also other activities planned throughout the year.A few examples are:
    • The Last Splash, Christian Concerts, Winter Retreat, Christian College tours, game nights, progressive dinner, Christmas party, and more.
  • 3:16 Crew Children’s Program: This program runs Oct – Feb and meets on Wednesdays from 3:16 pm – 5 pm at the youth building. The kids have a snack, crafts, games, and Bible lesson.
  • Skate Night: A fun night once a month through the school year of skating at Spinner’s Hall. This event is free to all kids.
  • The Community Trunk: Located in the east side of the youth building. This is a volunteer run second hand store with many handmade consignments as well. All proceeds support the youth program.
  • The Mentorship program offered by GCCYP will be an evidence-based program aimed at providing a positive adult role model in the lives of kids in Pomeroy, WA. The Program will be offered to middle school aged kids in its Inaugural year, with plans to expand to High school aged kids. Matches will spend time together playing games (Park, Board games…etc.), teaching each other skills, talking, and in general being a part of the mentee’s life. Parents will be able to be involved in the arrangement of meetings between the mentor and mentee. Meetings with Parent will take place once a month to assess the pairing.
Some More Info:
The youth program has a Board of Directors that make the decisions for the program and one youth pastor that runs the day to day programs as well as many helping hands that help with the different ministries. All positions are volunteer with the program being solely dependent on individuals for financial support. The youth building is being purchased through an owner carried contract. God has provided in amazing ways for this program to remain and continue to grow and add more ministries. We are excited for the future and how God may use GCCYP!
